We could do the parity of the sum of ASCII codes of all characters in one's name, though SM88 has a pretty good split going.

if Xyzzy is out it fits me in on my suggestion, but not Raman, if we go by sum of ASCII:

Code:
a=[LaurV,Batalov,davieddy,Brian-E,Xyzzy,Zeta-Flux,henryzz,Dubslow,sciecne_man_88,Raman];for(x=1,#a,b=Vecsmall(Str(a[x]));a[x]=sum(y=1,#b,b[y])%2);a
assures me that it would be 2 against 8 right now with Raman and Xyzzy in. Raman would need to be in,in order not to drop to 1 against 8 with Xyzzy in, with Xyzzy out it still ends up 1 on 7.

edit: 1 in 7 without Raman 2 on 7 with Raman in

Henryzz, as the person whose initiative this was, are you willing to do that?

Yes. I knew I forgot something.

With Zeta-Flux' reminded inclusion of "no chess engines" I have nothing to add or subtract to what you've written. I confirm my own participation as a player. My suggested nominations are:
henryzz and Zeta-Flux

"Team A" and "Team B" sound exciting.
If anyone can be even more creative than I am, please suggest better names! :-)

I would advise against this. We're hoping, if I've got it right, to allow people to late-join a team at later stages in the game (though not move from one team to the other), so while nearly every member of mersenneforum.org is undoubtedly sincere and trustworthy, why take the small risk that someone with destructive intentions decides to join a team and delete people's contributions?

Are moderating rights necessary at all in the team subforums? We could just call for supermod help if we experience any spamming problems or the like. Or otherwise maybe just the team captains should have mod rights.
