I love science fiction movies.
There are four films in my Top-Fav that at different times made a strong impression on me. 1. Avatar 2. Oblivion 3. Arrival and 4. Ghost in the Shell Yes, of course the first Matrix. By the way, on December 16 the premiere of the next Matrix - Resurrection. Yesterday I watched the movie Dune 2. It's not really sci-fi, more fantasy. Nice, but not particularly impressed. It's hard for me to say which films I might like. But I would appreciate your recommendations. Last fiddled with by greenskull on 2021-10-24 at 10:56 |

Le Voyage dans la Lune (A Trip to the Moon) (1902) Adapted from (among other things) Jules Verne's De la Terre ร la Lune, trajet direct en 97 heures 20 minutes
Metropolis (1927) Rotwang is the prototypical "mad scientist." Frankenstein (1931) Adaptation of Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley's novel Frankenstein; or, the Modern Prometheus (published 1818) Forbidden Planet (1956) Adaptation of The Tempest Gojira (1954) AKA "Godzilla." NOT the Americanized abomination. 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) I can't believe greenskull hasn't seen this one. Time After Time (1979) I had really low expectations before seeing it, and was very pleasantly surprised. Alien (1979) Creature's life cycle based on ichneumon wasps Blade Runner (1982) Based on Philip K. Dick's Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? I'm not certain why you wouldn't consider Dune as science fiction. If you read the books, it definitely falls into that category. I head that the new film has excluded a bunch of things from the book because of the difficulty in adapting some of the content to the big screen and because they wanted to keep the film relatively short. Watch the David Lynch version of Dune and you will get a better feel for the sci-fi component.
I agree on Arrival, but it requires too much thinking for the average person. My wife didn't understand it. The original Star Wars trilogy. Everything since then has be "disneyfied". Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan Logan's Run Planet of the Apes (the original one) Predator Terminator and Terminator 2 Close Encounters of the Third Kind Blade Runner (1982 version) Solaris (1972 version) The Thing (1982 version) Back to the Future |

You like Avatar, didn't particularly like the latest Dune film and called it Dune 2; why don't you run over my cat while you're at it that'll really hit the spot.

Dear Dr Sardonicus and rogue,
Thank you, but I already watched all these movies about 100 years ago :) Do you think I'm 20 years old? :) So far, the most tempting offer seems to me to be Equilibrium. Last fiddled with by greenskull on 2021-10-24 at 16:14 |

greenskull, we have no knowledge of movies that you have seen since you haven't posted a complete list.
Although odd, I didn't hate the David Lynch version of Dune. The SyFy version was better. I will watch the new Dune with my boys when they are home from college. I did not include 2001: A Space Odyssey because I am one of those who was completely bored by it. The book is one of the best science fiction books ever written, but I did not enjoy the movie. Babylon 5: The Gathering (The movie introduces you to the series, which is one of the best science fiction series ever) Fantastic Voyage Journey to the Center of the Earth (1959 version) Last fiddled with by rogue on 2021-10-24 at 16:52 |

Ditto on 2001. Oblivion was predictable 5 minutes in..though I did like the actors in it. Galaxy Quest, though not an Oscar contender, is a 'should see.' Last fiddled with by jwaltos on 2021-10-24 at 20:04 |
