Default ECMNet Client/Server 2.7.0 is Released

You can get the latest ECMNet from http://home.wi.rr.com/mrodenkirch. This is a list of updates from history.txt:

ecmserver: Log factors found by a slave to Factors.log.
Fix bug when logging message if work could not be sent
to the calling client.
all: Add BUFFER_SIZE to defs.h to allow easy configuration for
message sizes.
Exit in Socket.cpp if the message from the client is
longer than BUFFER_SIZE to prevent a possible segfault.

I had been sitting on most of these bug fixes for a few months as nobody has complained. The only new fix is the one with logging when work could not be sent to the client.

Hi Mark,

I've got one request for the ecmserver:

Could it be possible to get a status overview of the numbers in the server when accessing it through a browser on a configured port?

I have no idea. I'll play around with it and let you know.

I've done some playing around and it shouldn't be a problem. I can use the same port that the server currently uses, but I have to listen for different messages so that I can return HTML. That will be the fun part. When I have something ready, I'll post the output on my website and anyone who is interested can give their two cents.

Check out http://home.wi.rr.com/mrodenkirch/stats.html and let me know what you think. The data is out of date, but that shouldn't matter. The point is to show that it works.

When I release the code, you can access it via the same port that the ECMNet client.

Of note, this does not show anything that would indicate that the server is a master or slave. The finder is the e-mail address of the finder, but with the host stripped off. Each line for the numbers is 100 digits, which is done for readability.

That indeed looks very well. Just a request (for a next one perhaps ;) ).

I am not sure how you are building the html page, but could it be done with using a template?

Reading in template with for instance several tages that represent the data you show. This way people can easly ajust the presentation of the html themselfs.

Thanks, that very nice.

A template would of course be even better, but this is a good start.

Hi !

Nice page !

Indeed, I think there is an error in the p-1 and p+1 columns since it mentionned 3 times p-1 work and one time p+1...

I am currently, and for a long time yet, a "home primes factorer"...

May I please suggest to make the "current step" appear in your tables ? I am lost !

You have said that the data was not up to date but I haven't understood if the server is running... if it is, please read the following...

I Think I have factored hp973 further than what is mentionned (I have done step 80 c119 with ggnfs and am currently at step 82)... Since Sander has a lot of work, he didn't have found the time to update his pages with my results and we have done duplicate work with Mark...

I should mention I disagree with hp992 results (last step reported = step 82) on Sander pages.
I find :
11.101.421.4583.59017692464117.1542217851041078347.//
38018466952344063095174876398230738659354150450582575117928523482208598143047806752818807189375739464396111432112046567
=
19.
p28.
c135 which has been tested up to 40 digits (3e6 and 4e6 curves plus a few curves at 12e6)

AND NOT
17.
23.
313543.
c153

I'll send an update to Sander today.

Please pm me for details, I think it is better to cooperate and I am lost !...

Best wishes.

Philippe S.

The HTML is hard-coded in the server and I'm uncertain if I am following the correct protocol since I've never written a web server.

I do not know how difficult it would be to build a template and my skills with HTML are fairly basic. I assume you and others have more experience with templates. Would someone be willing to help me with it?

You are correct, the curve counts are reversed.

What do you mean by "current step"? This is server info, not client info.

I had a server running with HP candidates (on a local network at home). These stats are from an old ecmserver.ini, so the composites and curve counts are not up to date.

BTW, another change I need to make is to enable/disable this feature through ecmserver.cfg.

I would also like to have it show how long the server has been running and which version of the server is running. I could probably do that in the title. This point would be moot if a template were used.

Sorry, I was unclear...
I wasn't talking about gmp-ecm step1 and step2.

I was dealing with "home primes steps" as defined on Sander site (no prime reached at step 78, or HP49(100)...). The "step" info is usefull for me since I would like to use these pages for the choice of a ggnfs candidate and the amount of ecm still done of it. (If the composite you try to factor isn't the same that the one I have in my tables for a given HP, you may be in advance or I may be in advance...Since I only keep the results of my factorizations in a readeable way, it may be time consuming to retrieve a composite I have factored a few steps ago).

Thanks and regards.

Philippe
