Quit reading after I read post 13, but if electronic cigarettes had been around 5 years ago, I'd be smoker. Before the medication Invega(basically Risperdol with the ineffective mirror image molecules taken out, enabling a much higher dose with fewer side effects) I had a big problem with voices. A ton of paranoid schizophrenics are heavy smokers because it tends to prevent or suppress the voices in their heads.

Oh, and for the people who see a contradiction between electronic cigarettes and smoking, feel free to come up with a better term that society will accept. :)

That is false. Turan said that quote, but most people wrongly assume Erdos did.

You're correct. I knew it was a rather prominent non-Erdos 20th century Hungarian mathematician

According to the MacTutor History of Mathematics archive (http://www-history.mcs.st-andrews.ac.uk/index.html), it was Alfréd Rényi who was "often remembered as the author of the anecdote:
... a mathematician is a machine for converting coffee into theorems"
while Paul Turán "developed the anecdote further by describing weak coffee as fit only for lemmas." (http://www-history.mcs.st-andrews.ac...ies/Renyi.html)

OTOH, a developer is a machine for turning beer into programs.

It's amazing how often that statement is true.
