I know I saw this movie, around 1981. In Russian with English subtitles. Alas, I can't recall much of it at all. One scene is vividly stuck in my mind, though. It's a street fight. It reminded me of the fight scene in The Treasure of the Sierra Madre.

SPOILER ALERT: It began with a young tough, who had been bedeviling local youth, being confronted by a man considerably older than he was. The tough quickly put him on the ground. Only to find himself confronted by other neighborhood men. Or was it more than one tough? I forget. In any case, the adults prevailed. One of the tough's victims lamented to the effect that they had only confirmed to the toughs that might makes right. To which one of the men said something like, "No, we showed them that their might can be broken."

Physicist Steven Weinberg, who won the Nobel prize in 1979 with two other scientists for their separate contributions unlocking mysteries of tiny particles and their electromagnetic interaction, has died at 88, the University of Texas at Austin said Saturday.

Weinberg, Salam and Glashow - working separately - were honored "for their contributions to the theory of the unified weak and electromagnetic interaction between elementary particles, including ... the prediction of the weak neutral current," according to the Nobel Prize website.

From the same link you gave, Robert Moses, civil activist, article posted just few minutes ago. Interesting things to read about all these people I didn't know of. May they rest in peace.

Thank you for posting this. One of the items of possible interest to Forumites about Roert Moses:
Quote:
The press-shy Moses started his "second chapter in civil rights work" by founding in 1982 the Algebra Project using money he received through the MacArthur Foundation Fellows program - often referred to as "genius" grants - to improve math literacy among underserved populations. Ben Moynihan from the Algebra Project said Moses saw the work of improving mathematics literacy as an extension of the civil rights work he had started in the 1960s.

"Bob really saw the issue of giving hope to young people through access to mathematics literacy.... as a citizenship issue, as critical as the right to vote has been," Moynihan said.
