Code: 58024357 No factors below 2^66 Assigned Trial factoring to "trif" on 2008-10-26 History no factor from 2^63 to 2^64 by "ANONYMOUS" on 2008-10-26 History no factor from 2^64 to 2^65 by "Marzbug" on 2008-10-26 History no factor from 2^65 to 2^66 by "tmorrow" on 2008-10-26 My computer was apparently assigned to do 65 to 66 on this exponent, but since it had already been done, I got a not needed when it was returned, and it sticks in my "assigned" list. My log shows this is the range that was assigned. I haven't seen this happen with any other exponents. Is there maybe a race condition that allows the server to improperly send out assignments for ranges already done?
2008-11-02, 04:52 #2 tmorrow     Jan 2004 103 Posts Trif, I (tmorrow) was assigned that exponent when I joined V5 - I didn't manually hijack it, so this may be "yet another glitch" with the new server. I can't currently log on since the website was updated (entering user/password generates a 404 page can't be found error) so I can't give you any other details. Try to use the manual Testing page to load that result and see if it is accepted. Just keep a list of all these anomalies, you will eventually get credit. I'm starting to run out of patience, with 12 clients to look after I haven't got time to micromanage them so I'm considering cutting my losses. I received 100's of "not needed" errors as well as having a lot of my work hijacked by Anonymous when switching to V5, little of which has been resolved.
2008-11-02, 10:04 #3 S485122     Sep 2006 Brussels, Belgium 2·5·167 Posts The trial factoring results you got starting with V24 and finishing with v25 are best submitted manually. Collect all of your result files, copy the relevant part of each (results from 2008-10-15 to 200-1031 to be safe) into a new file. If you want to be complete, remove the "from 2^xx" part from the results file for those results. Submit the resultant file, some results will obviously already have been credited to you, but all previously uncredited work is will be. Nothing is lost. When the old server died, it was OK to send everybody to the v5 server. An annoucement should have been made : "v24 users please be patinet a few more days.". Urging everybody to upgrade to v25 before the V24 API was ready, was a bit of a mistake. Mistakes happen... Even with commercial projects with huge staff, planners and alll. Jacob

Ah come on. Can you not wait till George returns from vacation? And do you not gbelieve him when he says credit will not be lost?

Can both of you send your prime.log files to me by email. If there is a race condition I'd like to get that fixed. I've already asked Scott to look at the server logs for this exponent.

What I mean is I'm tired of trying to reconcile results from my client files compared with information off the server. I'm just going to send off all the logs and hope for the best. There's no way to actually check anything at the moment anyway, especially with trial factoring since none of the reports specify the user returning the result so there's no way to know for sure - except possibly going off the return date.

I'll email the log tonight.

Maybe you got the same problem like me?

I thought the website is down for a whole week before I noticed that it works using another browser *g*

2008-11-03, 08:21 #10 trif     Aug 2002 20210 Posts I've sent off the log file. I'm not too concerned about the credit, it's only a small amount, I'm concerned that the server could be causing duplicated work, which does nobody any good. I still have the exponent assigned to me, so the server is obviously expecting something other than what I turned in. Should I try to put it back in my worktodo as a 66 to 67 assignment, or would that work get rejected since that isn't what was assigned to me?
