Question Which range for Subproject #5?

Subproject #3 is nearing completion, so we need to decide on a range for the next 100 digits subproject. There are two reasons why I don't want to do 600k-700k: firstly, there has been some mystery work, and secondly, Wieb Bosma will go on to 450k-500k after finishing 400k-450k, and then he will do 600k-650k if he has read Wolfgang's page. My preference for Subproject #5 is 800k-900k. Any other ideas?

Maybe that would be the way to go. Maybe also post a reminder at the top of the project thread to check the DB to see where a sequence is at before starting work. That way some possible duplication of effort could be avoided (assuming the mystery worker keeps the DB reasonably up-to-date).

Also, what about coming up with another community project in addition to 4788. That way there could be more than one active sequence that could profit from ECM and small(er) NFS jobs. Unfortunately, I haven't found anything else interesting among the long sequences from Wieb's current udate....

Normally that's where everyone gets the files from.

There don't seem to be many sequences that are long and stable that someone doesn't have reserved. I am working on one of the longest stable ones below 105 digits (675600 at line 2865) - I have been working on various stable sequences in the 650k range until they get a driver, and also some of the longest stable sequences that were still at 80 digits, 675600 being one. It picked up a 3 and that is how it ended up at 103 digits. Everyone seems to have grabbed the long stable ones already, even the lowest ones. The higher ones are reserved (e.g. 842592).

As for any old high stable sequences, there aren't many of those either. 1134 at 164 digits comes to mind. 1464 has a 3 but not a driver.

Well, for the stuff I was looking at in Wieb's ranges, I just generated from scratch, since it was quicker to just fire off an aliquiet job and forget it rather than pull a sequence out of the DB and save it. (Which also lessens the load on the DB.....I hate putting any more load on the DB than I have to.)

i also do that often although i usually check the DB
for another team sequence i would suggest something from the longest sequnces list like 144984 or 283752
the forum could then try and compete on 2 fronts

Doing 800k range seems good as that is getting the least work. 900k range is already being done and the 600 range has some activity. I would say the 800k is the least done of all the ranges.
