We lost a quasi-Kwarteng. Is his replacement a real Kwarteng?

Holy jamoly! What an absolute, total, complete, and utter shambles.
It seems the still smiling (or is that risus sardonicus?) Kwasi Kwarteng will get 3 months' severance pay. He was Chancellor of the Exchequer for five weeks. |

Threads needs to be updated or a new one started, maybe a special forum for the upcoming resignations too.

2022 is shaping up to be quite the year for the UK: two monarchs and three prime ministers.
1886 and 1924 saw three UK prime minister administrations in one year, but in both cases the third administration was a return to the first. 1868 and 1852 saw three distinct UK prime ministers. 1852 is interesting in that three parties led the nation: Whigs, then Conservatives, then Peelites. |

I am not fully conversant in UK politics but it seems to me most of the changes of prime minister without elections comes from the Tories.
I recall Maggie T (aka the Fe Lady) resigning under pressure of her own party. Cameron (resigned as a result of Brexit) T May (aka May in June), resigning under pressure by enraged Brexit-supporting Conservatives. BJ. resigned because of an ethics scandal. Liz Truss came in with little chance of succeeding and she did not disappoint. ETA: I believe in my heart that Brexit was a big mistake. it might even trigger Scotland leaving the Union in the next 20 years. But the cast is done. There is no going back. Literally or figuratively. (I am not British, but I lived for one year in the UK) Last fiddled with by rudy235 on 2022-10-20 at 21:00 Reason: ETA |
