Has there been any change in the TF code?

I have added to prime.txt the line:
KeepPminus1SaveFiles=0

It doesn't seem to be working. After I restart Prime95 and mprime the P-1 save files continue to stick around.

Jeff.

I believe this setting is checked on completion of a P-1 assignment, and if appropriate it will delete that savefile for that assignment. It will not proactively sweep for unneeded old savefiles and purge them.

George, the new version for Mac OSX looks great! Finally, a real interface! Just one problem -- it can't find my worktodo file. It also didn't import any of my settings from prime.txt and local.txt, but those can be fixed by hand. I did do the install into the same folder. Couldn't find anything in "whats_new" to explain it.

Running 10.6.3 on an iMacCore2Duo/2GHz.

The Mac version is the only version that does not put all its data files in the same folder as the executable. I don't remember why I did this, maybe I was worried Mac users would install it in the Applications folder and I didn't want to clog that up with GIMPS data files.

Instead the program defaults to ~/Prime95. I think you can override this with the plist editor.

I realize that. With that line in my prime.txt file it is generating *new* P-1 save files, so have hundreds of new ones.

Re-examining the code indicates the new option only works in the factor-not-found case. Is this what you are seeing?

Possibly. All my exponents have a factor of 3 so the factor-found case is every one which would explain why there isn't anything being deleted.

You can put the known factor 3 on the worktodo.txt line.

Thanks, I stumbled across that solution. Things work fine now. I'm returning benchmarks by email.

Two *tiny* complaints: My vision is pretty suboptimal, so I had to enlarge the text, but it doesn't affect text in the "status" dialog box. Even more trivially, the time logged in the benchmark is not local time. Unless this affects your benchmarks database, don't worry about it.

Otherwise, it looks great! I'm really grateful you took the effort to give Mac users a true "Maclike" interface. Now, if only I owned more Macs ...
