IronBits,

I've just now finished sieving k=300-400 for n=260K-600K. Friday night, I can get you some top-5000 work on that k-range. (It'll take me a while to remove factors, determine k's that need to be removed due to reservations, etc.) If it goes well, would you like to use this port 5000 server for the next rally? If so, we can leave it premanently there.

Alternatively, if you want some work sooner, I can post n=395K-400K for k=400-1001 from drive 1 on Friday morning. I just figured it'd be easier to give you work that we'll use for the next rally so we aren't swapping k or n-ranges in and out of the server.

Hi IronBits,

The k=300-400 sieve file is now complete and ready to send after I break off an appropriate-sized chunk for you. Karsten will be getting me some info. on the last rally to determine size needs for the next 2 weeks including a rally for next weekend.

Would you like a small piece for testing first? If so, do you know how many k/n pairs you'd like to test with? FYI, it's about 1750 k/n pairs for every 1000n.

I wasn't clear if this server had been tested yet. Either way, I'll send you a range starting at n=332K. If you want others to test, later on I can move two drive 1 cores over to your server for test purposes.

If it runs into problems over there in CentOS 4.5 64bit, I'll just run it over here on XP SP2 32bit with tcpip.sys patched to 1,000. ;) I would like the 5000 range on the Linux Server and all the other stuff on the windows server, but I can put multiple ports on either box. As to how many k/n pairs I want, I have no answer. I don't have a large pharm of computers I once had to chew threw the work. Depends on how many folks are wanting to come get work from either one of my servers on ports 500 (lower ranges) or 5000 (top-5000). I think you could put everyone on my one server and it would handle all of it, so that's not a concern that I have. :) Having redundant servers so if one went down, lost connection, network goes down, power goes off etc., folks have a backup to switch to, is always a good idea. :) Last fiddled with by IronBits on 2008-02-29 at 21:56

OK, I'll send you a large range of k=300-400 for n>332K (top-5000) to feed to one of your servers. Since things have been going well on your other server(s), sending a small range would just waste time.

I need to do some calculations and finish work first so it'll be 1-2 hours yet. I want to give you about 2 weeks work and I'd like that to include a rally the weekend of the 8th.

Just to confirm so that I can test it:
It is port 5000.
It is currently empty (i.e. no k=400-1001 work).

I'm sorry, there were so many servers flying around. Can you give me the name of your server? To be specific, I need to fill in the ? below:

Code:
-- server location
server = ?
port = 5000
Thanks for offering to run the servers!

Gary

Very good. Thanks for the info.

I just now sent you a PM with a link for k=300-400 for n=340K-400K.

I'll post n=320K-340K for manual reservations in n=2K pieces to fill in that reservation range at Primesearch as well as a few lower n-ranges.

Thanks again for hosting!

Gary
