Default HCN Table Updates

The tables and ECMnet server have been updated to reflect all factors reported to me through the end of February 13 (GMT). The latest version of the tables can be seen at https://www.unshlump.com/hcn/. There were 31 new factors since the last update, 25 of which completed the factorization of their respective numbers.

There are now 1075 composites remaining in the tables. The minimum digit count is now 176. SNFS difficulties range from 221 to 310, but all difficulties below 255 are for quartics, which are of course more difficult than the SNFS difficulty value would suggest.

As a result, there are no longer any jobs suitable for the NFS@Home 14e sievers, and any NFS work on personal hardware will be fairly hard jobs. Some jobs will be submitted to the NFS@Home 15e queue, but for many people wishing to work on these numbers, ECM may be the best bet. As a reminder, there is an ECMnet v2 server running on ecm.unshlump.com:8194 which is up to date relative to the tables.

I would argue that the C220-230 quartics are suitable. They are similar to the C255 sextics.

Have you tried test-sieving any of them with the 14e and 15e sievers?

I don't claim that one couldn't use the 14e sieved with an S220 quartic. But I believe it will be more efficient with 15e.

More efficient does not matter if the 15e siever is too busy owing to other work [with
more difficult numbers].
