Get GMP from http://www.swox.com/gmp. It is by far the best MP (multi-precision) library that I know of. It is written in C with low level routines in assembler optimized for many CPUs.

GMP has quite a bit more documentation, both online and downloadable. It is more cryptic than perfsci's package due to how much it encompasses, but far faster, in case speed is an issue.
