Does Berlin, Maryland count? It's a two hour drive from here.

(I live 20 miles north of Washington DC)

PS: Luigi, the last time you were in my neighborhood, you had checked out of your hotel less than an hour before I got there; we just missed meeting.

I was so sorry about it The hotel had cancelled your phone call before I could even listen to it.

Next time, maybe.

Out here in the desert, Tucson, Arizona. (But I travel a lot on business, and would definitely drop in on a gathering of Mersenneforumites if I was in the neighborhood.)

You must live quite close to my parents then.

Thanks for the advice. I'll see what I can do but my only free day is the first when I'm going to be absolutely exhausted from the travelling so about all I'm likely to be capable of is lounging by/in the pool and/or drinking beer. I'm told there are the products of some halfway decent microbreweries available near where I'm staying.

A rather nice zoo, IME, is at Taronga. Even further away from me than SD.

Manassas, Virginia. Right about 27.5 miles WSW (via crow) of the White House, Washington, DC; 32.5 miles by highway.

jasonp, I'd estimate about 3.5-4.0 hours West of you, right?

Much closer than that, ~1.5 hours southwest plus traffic delays (which could easily balloon the time needed, even to equal your estimate on the average weekday :). Let me know when you're in the Tyson's Corner area, we could do dinner sometime.

PS: Luigi, no problem, at least I had a chance for a nice lunch at Union Station and a rare museum trip
