Default Tune does not complete.

Tune() is not finishing. It leaves tune.job when it stops. Below are the last few lines from the screen output. I had to key this into Notepad so if there are any typo's, please forgive me.

Code:
elapsed time for ~10k relations of c100 = 46.3083 seconds.
extrapolated time for complete factorization = 7259.9079 seconds
best linear fit is ln(y) = 0.203863 * x -11.4623
R^2 = 0.996423
best exponential fit for y = 1.05196e-005 * exp(0.203863 * x)

fopen error No such file or directory

I am running this on Windows 10 v1903. Yafu appears to be missing a dependency file.

Anyone?

It can't find the ggnfs siever (emboldened above). Make sure the path in the yafu.ini file is correctly pointing to the folder with the sievers. (I'm not running Windows, but things should be the same or very similar.)

Thank you for your reply!

I do not have this file. It was not included in the archive I downloaded. The documentation says Yafu.exe is v1.34. The last modification date on it is March 6, 2013. I did a bit of web searching and didn't come across anything newer.

Update: I found the extra files in another posting here. There seems to be a path issue. I put all the files in the same folder with Yafu.exe. It still says it cannot find the executable despite finding another with "argfix" added to the name.

Can you post your yafu.ini file here? Or, maybe someone with Windows familiarity can chime in.

I would think the line in yafu.ini that says "ggnfs_dir=" (without a % in front) should be:
Code:
ggnfs_dir=.\
if the sievers are located in the same directory as yafu.exe.

There is one more thing to consider. I remember that Windows editors add a lot of (hidden) formatting characters to text files on occasion. These will interfere with YAFU when it tries to read the .ini values. Try to make sure the file is clean text and saved in a manner that doesn't add any formatting.

Yes, it was right in front of me and I did not see it. Sorry! It was in the readme file.

I use Notepad++ for a lot of things. Generally, it will represent strange characters with some type of symbol. I didn't see anything. I even looked with a hex editor. Beyond the line feed symbols, there was nothing there which should not have been.

Good to read. I'll try to keep Notepad++ in mind for any future needs. I rarely do anything with Windows these days, so it's had to remember some of these hints.
