Saw https://www.theverge.com/2019/12/3/2...=pocket-newtab and recalled the linux repurposing of certain Linksys wireless routers and Ernst's recent cellphone effort. I wonder how many other items are sitting around that could be doing GIMPS work in their mostly idle days and nights. https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/shield/shield-tv/ seems a candidate. How about the various other models of smart TVs? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Android_TV

Or addon boxes? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amazon_Fire_TV shows sufficient ram for primality testing or trial factoring is typical, and they're based on a variant of Android.

What about Roku? Mine sits idle most of the time. I could leave it running on a GIMPS channel. I have a DVR that also has some apps (like VUDU, Pandora, and YouTube ). It (and the Roku) is old enough that they are no longer updating the software.

Old enough that I got an email saying that they no longer are updating the software (an Oh Hey, here is a deal on a newer model that can handle bigger and faster.)

It is an SD or XD.

I noticed some of the consumer hardware (Fire TV) included OpenCL1.2 or 2.0. Some of it is ARM processor cpus and Mali gpus, rather like the smartphones that Ernst and others have been running Mlucas upon the cpu side of. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amazon_Fire_TV
