Copyright question

Hey, guys, I need a quick opinion about fair use laws. A little background:

I'm obsessed with the idea of a rollout phone that's the size of a phone in your pocket, but that can be unrolled to tablet size when you want to use it as a tablet. To me, the most obvious example of it's usage, while totally fictional, is the video phone that existed on Alien Nation, a show that was out in either the 80s or the 90s. So...

My question is two-fold:

(1) How hard would it be to take a torrent of the show, edit out a 1-3 minute clip, make that clip Youtube-ready(whatever that means) then post it to my channel.

(2) What are the chances of it getting deleted because of Youtube bots?

Probably not very hard.

There are a lot of small clips on YouTube. I'd think there'd be good chances of it staying up, especially with a more obscure show. Who knows, though.

I don't understand why people ask these sorts of questions. No one can answer the question so everyone is guessing.

Just do it and see what happens. If it works out for you then great. If not, then bummer. No need to ask us our opinion about what will happen.

My suggestion is: run a "lower third" graphic across the bottom or a crawler across the image. This would mar it enough that copyright police will leave you alone. One minute is a bit long on the "fair use" end of the spectrum, 3 minutes is too long.
