"Five years is waaay too conservative. Should be two years (three at the most) before 4 GHz is done-and-dusted, most likely by /both/ Intel & AMD. By that time, both the core count as well as GFLOPS rating/core would have also tripled." - axn1, 2007

Not sure how interested Oscar Wilde was in Mersenne primes,
but "I may be in the gutter, but at least I'm looking at the stars"

Don't know much about Oscar Wilde,
Do remember once bein' a child.

Saw a sliderule and worked it out,
Went to college without a doubt.

And I do know 'bout one and one,
Think that mathing is really fun.

Number theory, topolgy,
They're related - do you agree?

When these notions absorb our eyes
What a wonderful world will arise.

Default Is this original?

At least it is aliterative:

"A legend in his own liquid lunchtime".

Can't think of how I came up with that.

"A legend in his own lunchtime" is not original. I've seen that used on a number of occasions in the past few decades; I've used it myself. The addition of "liquid" is new to me.

BTW, pronouncing "legend" as two words: "leg end" also has a long history.

Another quote from the same man in book 1 of the series:

- "How would you like to die, Tyrion son of Tywin?โ€
- โ€œIn my own bed, with a belly full of wine and a maidenโ€™s mouth around my cock, at the age of eighty,โ€ he replied.

Yep. I like to gild the lily ocasionally.

CJ in Reggie Perrin inspired this one:
"I didn't get where I am without making hay while the
sun shined out of my arse".

"Your Majesty is like a stream of bat's piss..."

I'll let Paul supply the get out clause.

David

Or did I mean "Sanity Claus"?

I was indulging in my customary orange juice
in the agreeable company of WBLipp at a Hampstead
watering hole, and felt moved to quote the late Dennis Hopper:

"I'll fuck anything that moves"
(intentionally keeping my voice down)

Shush says William.
(I suppose someone might have overheard me).

Some connection with computer language in there somehow.
