When I started a new Lone Mersenne Hunters worktodo.ini file on one of my machines, I noticed that Prime95 does not read the worktodo file when it starts on bootup (status reports no work queued up). However, if I exit Prime95 and run it by double-clicking the exe, it behaves normally. I am running Windows XP.
Is there any way either the registry entry or the worktodo.ini could be malformed to produce this behavior? Everything seems normal by visual inspection. Thanks for your help. |

What is the directory structure to the prime95 file?
Is the worktodo.ini in the same directory? When you say it starts on bootup, how specifically do you have it set up to start on boot? Is there another occurrence of prime95 on the same computer/hard drive? Figure you know pretty much what you are doing, just asking the obvious questions! Fusion |

Fusion -
C:\math\p95\ Yes selected Options|Start at Bootup No None of these has changed since Prime95 last behaved properly at bootup. I should also add that this problem started when I was using a v22 client and persisted when I upgraded to v23.6 Thanks again for any help. |

In the shortcut used when the program starts up on boot up, I suspect the "Start in" section has not been filled in with the path to the executable (C:\math\p95 in your case), so the program is not actually looking at the worktodo.ini file you think it is.
I would suggest you look at this and make sure it is the same as the path to the exe file. See if this helps. |

Thanks for your help.
Prime95 is installed as a service, and I don't see any way to specify a directory in that fashion. |

Did you moved the directory containing Prime95 later on?? If so, you should deselect the "start at bootup" option and then select it again to modify the working directory and path to executable for the service to suite your needs.

I have not moved my prime95 directory since I first installed the program.
If I de-select Options | Start at Bootup, it indeed does not start at bootup. If I then re-select Options | Start at Bootup, Prime95 starts at bootup, but does not read the worktodo.ini file. Thanks everyone for your help; I was hoping this would admit a simple solution. |
