After my computer crashed I find following:
Error reading intermediate file: pJxxxxx Renaming intermediate file qJxxxxxx to pJxxxxxx. Error reading intermediate file: pJxxxxxx And it starts LL test from zero! ![]() ![]() ![]() Is there any chance to get back my previous results? What should I do to save me from such losses in the future? ![]() Last fiddled with by edorajh on 2003-12-11 at 20:32 |

Has your hard drive run out of room, or have you exceeded your quota?

I don't think so as I have 16.8 GB free memory space on my hard. I just get blue monitor with error message and press any key instruction. After I start Prime95 again I see mentioned error message.
Does Prime95 save those files somewhere else on hard, so I can find them and replace them back in Prime95 folder? ![]() |

Prime95 saves two savefiles (p... and q...) in case one file is corrupt and has errors. If both files are corrupted there is no recovery.
Since you have plenty of disk space, try adding this to your prime.ini file: InterimFiles=1000000 This will generate a savefile every million iterations. That way, if both p... and q... files are corrupted, you can try restarting from the older savefiles. However, it really looks like there is a serious problem with your machine. If two savefiles can get corrupted somehow, then maybe even a dozen more could get corrupted the same way, unless you figure out how it happened. Are you using a local hard drive, or are you trying to save over a network? What size were the p... and q... files -- normal or truncated? Are the rest of the files in your directory normal? ...especially prime.log and results.txt -- what do they show? Did you transfer any files from one machine to another before this happened (maybe FTP without using binary mode)? |

Yes, I use a local drive. I'm not sure what size they were. All other files seems OK. prime.log has last info about sending expected completion date (few hours before I lost everything). results.txt as last info has above mentioned error messages.
Prime95 starts from 0% after I restart machine. I get several more times blue screen. Now I turn off Prime95, and everything works well. ![]() It was so close t ofinish my third exponent. Now start from begining, and I'm not even sure if it will work anymore on this machine. But I have 3 more machines. ![]() |

Have you tried the Prime95 torture test on that particular machine? Also Memtest 86?

I didn't try torture test. But this machine works fine and allready finished two exponents without any problems.
But maybe I should run torture test. I will also run Memtest. Do I need to stop current exponent in order to run torture test? This night machine runs fine, o its usual speed. But it's awful to see it now has only 45000 itterations, and yesterday it has 15m itterations completed. ![]() |

Yes, you should stop the current test before you run the Prime95 torture test. Also, Memtest86 requires you to reboot to run it.
