How does a VIA C3 processor scale with Intel and AMD in mathematical computations?

I was amazed by these chips at that time, but I believe remember they are slower then an Intel-chip with same frequency.
As for electricity-efficiency, they might rule them out, though; but then the whole computer around counts more. H. |

The Nehemiah chips were available in the range of 1Ghz to 1.4Ghz and they were big improvement over the previous generation called Ezra. That said, they were still quite slow when compared to Intel and AMD chips at the same clock speed. Most benchmarks seem to put them at about half the speed or less of a 1.3Ghz Intel Tualatin.
The C7 Esther core seems to be their current offering and it tops out at 2.0Ghz. I haven't seen any benchmarks for it but I haven't gone looking for them either. Wikipedia has some good details about the entire line. -Don |

Via's processors are far behind Intel and AMD's offerings. They are extremely efficient though. I have a mini-ITX board powered by the older Ezra processor. It consumes about 10 watts of DC power.
It's no use talking about Vias processors though. In the states, they are non-existant, because they violate the US Patent mindfield Intel and AMD established. |
