While I've never liked your Month/Day/Year system (but am not keen on our Day/Month/Year system either - best is Year/Month/Day for ease of sorting), at least the American way has the advantage that you'll be able to wish each other similar pleasantries as late as December 13, 2014 whereas by then these happy festivals will be a thing of the past elsewhere in the world.

You worried me for a moment. My sister-in-law got to choose the date of her caesarean and chose 7/8/9 'so it was easy to remember'! I thought I'd forgotten it. (I'll be an uncle for the fifth time. )
