An error I saw in the article says that 10kwh costs about 12 dollars in the U.S.

That sounds off by 10x to me. Around 1.20 dollars seems more reasonable.

In California it's $0.30 per kwh (and going up). Plus you have to add in the amortized $2,500 cost to install a charging station in your garage.

The video says that they will be getting single digit kwH/100 km So the $12 charge would be for the whole charge.

Snazzy concept car usually turns into underwhelming production car. Because things like cost and manufacturability nerfs these things.

Wisconsin per kwhr residential is ~$0.12/kwhr which works out to about a $1/watt-year, handy for deciding how many watts of GIMPS load to run. Sales taxes outside the heating season, plus monthly connect cost year-round are additional. Rooftop solar may mitigate costs.

I installed a 30-amp 240V charger (commonly referred to as level 2, at 6.6kW) for $800 including electrician costs. The charger hardware is under $500. While there are surely older homes that require more extensive wiring than I did, $2500 would be a pretty rare situation.

Homeowners facing 30 cents a kwh ought to look long and hard at solar-panel installation.

My electrical panel has no open slots for new breakers. It would require a sub-panel, thus more $$$.
