Default Question about work units and confusion about mailing lists

I have two questions:

(1) How many lines are in the 3_479P project?

(2)Is the address to ask questions nfsnet-l@nfsnet.org ? (The way the explanation was set up on the page, I figured out how to subscribe to the list but wasn't sure where to send questions.)

The number of lines in any project can only be estimated.
At the moment, I project that 3,479+ will require a bit more than 48M lines to produce 45M relations.
We are guessing that that might produce a reasonable matrix.
When we get there, we will see. Right now, we have completed about 29% of the work.

However, the rate will increase somewhat once we finish the sieving for 2,797+ and the machines that are presently working on that one switch and join in.

"nfsnet-l" is a list that goes to all the sievers. You can often get help there.
You can also get help from paul or myself by addressing it to "paul" or "richard", respectively. We also get the "join" mail.

You misunderstood my question, but that's all right.

Is nfsnet-l@nfsnet.org the right email for asking questions? I'm very literal minded, so I don't like to assume things that aren't explicitly stated.

I guess I could simply try the address and see what happens. If I don't get a response here within 48 hours or so, I might do that.

Sorry if I seem to be being a booger.

I guess that I answered as I did because I don't have any idea what kind of question you want to ask. I was leaving it to you to decide which venue you considered most appropriate.

Is your question of general interest, or a question whose answer is likely to be known by a number of knowledgable participants? If so, nfsnet-l might be appropriate. On the other hand, if the question is very specific to yourself, you should not "bother" the others, but make a direct inquiry one of us who has access to the information that is needed.

I consider your question about the sieving effort for 3,479+ to be appropraite for either route.

Actually, if I had reread my first post I would have realized I had the answer, since that was what you were responding to. My problem dealt with the idea that the domain could possibly have been different from nfsnet.org .

Sorry for the trouble.

And I am so "close" to the situation that that aspect of the question never registered :)
