Default What happened with Dubslow?

I don't know if its appropriate to ask, but if I may not, I ask any mod to remove this question.

Dubslow was a participant of this forum which I appreciated very much. He was helpful and came with many good comments which often clarified obscure matters. He was a very active participant and made maybe 4-5 comments every day, at least.

Then suddenly on April 11, 2013, he stopped, just after he had passed 5000 comments. Not a singel comment after that. Was he banned for some reason?

I wonder, what happened? Why did he stop participating?

Well his user name is blue, so he should be not banned. His contributions on GPUto72 (P-1) flat lined about that time. Maybe it was about all of the conflict that Daveddy was causing about that time.

Have you tried PM'ing Dub? Usually the e-mail notification will go through.

He is probably fine, - as you can gather by the recent revival of his aliquot website.

He has a webpage at linkedIn, but he doesn't answer.
He also has a facebook page, afaik, but you will have to guess which (I couldn't; he used to have a photo).

We all hope he will be back soon. I have a special reason to hope, because I can't get it off my mind that not Davieddy, but me might have a "merit" in his disparition. We had some arguments on the chess forum, but at the time it was more of a joke. When he disappeared we all considered that he is busy with his exams, and only after a while I begun to think that maybe he took our small argument seriously... I still believe he is above that... Anyhow, I hope he is well and I hope he will be back. I also appreciate him very much and I have a lot of respect for him. He is not only a good guy, and a kid who really wants to learn, but he also does have a big and objective contribution in the development of the last CudaLucas versions.

No, no, no. It was ME. Because of my evilness in general and nothing else. Geez, stop taking credit for this, you want to steal my thunder do you?

I was being serious! I would be happy to be proved wrong.

I am kinda happy that his aliquots site is back, because when it comes to aliquots, I am kinda strange animal: I keep about 20 sequences reserved, but I don't really "work" them (there is enough work to do for everybody! I am not strangling anything). I only work them "if((I have free cores not occupied by daily work) && (I am in the mood))". And when this happens, I select which sequence to work few terms, by criteria like "the smallest cofactor", or "the one with the nicest guide", or "the one with the lowest index", etc. And Dubslow's site is the only one which is both updated and offering a multitude of such "selection fantasies".

LaurV, I cannot believe for a moment that Dubslow left on account of your good humoured banter in the chess forums, especially now that we've had the privilege of seeing the contents of your private discussions from that time.

One of our chess team members vanished too at that time. It's someone with whom I personally have had blazing rows in past years in the same sex marriage thread in the soap box, but I don't think for a moment that he left on my account.

People move on sometimes for all sorts of reasons. Things happen in their everyday lives which can turn things upside down for them, especially for people of Dubslow's age. I know I used to drop out of social circles without warning at that age when things happened which I couldn't cope with. I came out of it alright, but I left a trail of abandoned friends. And no-one was to blame.

Default Only speculation

A lot of people were frustrated with the Davidddy dialogs, including myself, and bailed or took a cool down period.

I do hope he'll be back. I especially liked and welcomed his balanced approach to most debates.

I hope is well.

A few years ago, I suddenly dropped out of forum participation because I suffered an injury that required prompt hospital operation and several weeks' recovery. Of course, I hope that anyone else's sudden dropout has more benign causes.

Are you sure that was mere coincidence? :)
