They're paid what they are for a reason. Seriously.
I fully intend to get it fixed properly by a professional.

We need a professional to fix it. Maรฑana.

Currently running on a gruesome chain of extension cords plugged into a socket on the house power supply.
Here's hoping you don't overtax the circuit you're using as a workaround...

The "takes the entire estate down with it" sounds especially worrying. Usually when a circuit breaker trips it only cuts power to the circuit it's governing.

Yes, I'd say a trained professional is the way to go.

Good luck!

Had to down some productive GIMPS systems for what's likely to be several days or more, due to the furnace blower, that is a critical part of a central air conditioning system, no longer fulfilling its function. Upper level of the structure had ramped up to 95F/35C, triggering some automatic thermal shutdown, while I was out for several hours yesterday. (But it could have been worse, as in occurring during the 90F/32C outdoor ambient we've had earlier. Current ambient 71F/22C is helping; 85F/29C is in the near term forecast.) Some systems were already down for maintenance.

My own rule for my GPU crunchers is that only one of A/C or Crunchers may run at a given time. I only ethically justify running the GPU farms (which has added ~$200/month to my PG&E bill) by way of "doing GIMPS work on a Radeon 7 is an order of magnitude more efficient throughput/watt-wise than the next-best option", but running the A/C just to remove waste heat from the GPUs cuts 2x off that efficiency. Even in sunny CA there's been only a handful of days this summer where I had to shut down the crunchers for more than 8 hours.

Live footage shows the volcano in La Palma, Spain that began erupting on Sunday night. The eruption marks the Canary Islands' first in 50 years, and has forced the evacuation of 5,500 people, and has destroyed at least 100 houses.

The volcano will remain active for the next few days, regional leader Angel Victor Torres said.

Yes, still OK. Fine view from my window, though, especially as the sun has now risen as seen from halfway up the ash cloud but is still behind the cumbre for the bottom half, so the red glow is still visible down there. but the top half is a golden colour.

I use https://www.wunderground.com/wundermap for situational awareness wrt weather, along with several other data streams.

Hurrican Sam has formed into a Cat 4 rather sooner than most previous examples of manifest chaos. Please Google for additional knowledge.

Pray to whatever god(s) you like. And then take responsibility for yourself(s).

Googling turned up some neat images of the storm, and a number of news stories. This NPR story indicates that Sam is unlikely to hit land. It also indicates that there may be more late-season storms in the western part of the Atlantic basin.

I've just finished the linear algebra on what I believed from the beginning of the sieving at the end of September, to be Lucas(1369).

When I put the factor into FactorDB it told me that it was already known; and indeed it turns out that I have re-factorised Fibonacci(1369).

I am having some difficulty working out where the mistake was; the ECM that I did was on the correct cofactor of L1369, the Pari script that I use to make polynomials was correctly using L1369, but the polynomial file I ran was F1369. It wasn't even the same polynomial that we'd used on this forum in May 2018 to factor F1369:

Code:
Y1: -fibonacci(228)
Y0: fibonacci(229)
c6: 1
c5: 0
c4: 15
c3: -20
c2: 30
c1: -18
c0: 5
versus May 2018's
Code:
Sun May 27 18:14:53 2018 R0: fibonacci(229)
Sun May 27 18:14:53 2018 R1: -fibonacci(227)
Sun May 27 18:14:53 2018 A0: 5
Sun May 27 18:14:53 2018 A1: -12
Sun May 27 18:14:53 2018 A2: 15
Sun May 27 18:14:53 2018 A3: -20
Sun May 27 18:14:53 2018 A4: 30
Sun May 27 18:14:53 2018 A5: -30
Sun May 27 18:14:53 2018 A6: 13
I am currently sieving L1373 (and have checked three times that the polynomial I'm sieving there *is* correct); I guess I go back and sieve L1369 properly once that's done. A very silly waste of three months of compute, and I wish I could figure out how it happened.

Today mark the 150 th P-1 attemp (B1=1200000, B2=410879040) without success in the 8.5M range.
I'm starting to get a bit miffed by it.
Gonna increase B1 a bit, toward 1 560 000

Yes with those bounds that is simply bad luck.
I wouldn't panic though ... you could just as easily get 10 factors out of the next 150 attempts.
My worst streak ... with an expected success rate of 3% ... is 353.
