"Many people feel primes become more scarce as the numbers go steadily higher", Gilchrist says

I think they underestimated the mathematical rigor of the Prime Number Theorem.

At least we can expect some publicity when we find the $100k prime.

I got another call today from ITBusiness.ca wanting to do the story. It is now posted online. They even have quotes from Josh and George (including links to the GIMPS website).

George, did she actually call/email you or did she pull that quote out from somewhere else?

Jeff.

You mean when 15k finds the $100k prime.
Ofcourse the $150k and $250k are still up for grabs!

"Think of the biggest number you can and then double it, triple it, quadruple it. Sky's the limit.

You still won't be in Josh Findley's stratosphere. And you definitely won't be in the orbit of the tens of thousands of people who join him in a strange, unabashedly geeky quest for the largest prime number known to man."

I'm sure people have heard of the googolplex before. Its much bigger than M41.
