The court in the Hague has returned a verdict and sentences for the shooting down of MH17 in 2014. In addition to plenty of pictures, the article in The Daily Mail has the basic facts:

A Dutch court today cleared one suspect and convicted three others in the downing of the Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 over Ukraine.

Two former Russian intelligence officers - Igor Girkin and Sergey Dubinskiy - as well as Ukrainian Leonid Kharchenko, who was working for Russia, were found guilty of murdering the 289 people onboard the Boeing 777 in 2014.

A third former Russian intelligence officer, Oleg Pulatov, was acquitted by the Dutch court due to a lack of evidence.

Presiding Judge Hendrik Steenhuis sentenced the three guilty men to life in prison, saying: 'Only the most severe punishment is fitting to retaliate for what the suspects have done, which has caused so much suffering to so many victims and so many surviving relatives.'

A St Petersburg politician has asked prosecutors to investigate Russian President Vladimir Putin for using the word "war" to describe the conflict in Ukraine, accusing the Kremlin chief of breaking his own law.

I'm sure Putin will get prosecuted. That's unacceptable.
