This and any similar conflicts could be addressed properly/intelligently iff a Union-of-Nations is formed similar to UN, where no nation has a veto power. Veto is the main factor that makes UN ineffective.

His war on Ukraine has been going on since 2014, when he invaded and occupied the Crimean peninsula.

I am reminded of the (purported) "Chinese curse," May you live in interesting times. Supposedly, "interesting" means something like "fraught with tumult, peril, misery, carnage, destruction, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera" - that is, "interesting" to future historians.

This seems implausible as a curse however, since both the curser and the person being cursed are already living, and "the times" is the present - now. If the times are, or are soon to become "interesting," would not the curser be condemned to live in "interesting times" also?

All of this because Putin did not want a NATO member country on his border. A coup de-tat on a large scale. He wants to install his minions to run the country. Russian currency appears to be heading toward rock-bottom. If other countries really want to hurt him, in the wallet is the ideal place. This is what they seem to be doing.

Europe import 40% of its natural gaz from Russia. "We" (as in Europeans) can get of Liquified natural gaz from USA. But we lack the factories to re-gazify it. A new factory to do the job take at least a year to build. In a 'live' chat of a serious newspaper , a CEO of an energy provider said

« Pour alimenter l’Europe en gaz, soit on a des tuyaux soit on a des terminaux de regazéification où on amène du gaz naturel liquéfié [GNL]. Or ils sont tous pleins en ce moment, et on n’a pas assez de terminaux en Europe pour regazéifier le gaz liquéfié afin de remplacer les 40 % de gaz russe », a précisé M. Pouyanné.

Selon lui, « il faut deux à trois ans pour construire un terminal. La France en a, l’Allemagne n’en a aucun, et donc quand on me dit “comment vous faites si les 40 % de gaz russe disparaissent”, alors là je peux vous dire que je ne sais pas faire. Je saurai faire dans deux, trois ans, si on construit des terminaux, car on a du gaz mais il faut pouvoir l’amener. On a là un problème d’infrastructure ».

He already has Poland on his border, as well as the Baltic republics. Kalingrad is part of Russia.

The US has been shipping large quantities of LNG to Europe for some time now. What - it's all just been stockpiled all this time?
