I don't spend as much time here as I'd like.
Has the Windows Memory Diagnostic from Microsoft been discussed? http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp It worked fine and helped me identify bad RAM on a friend's naughty PC. |

bad RAM that the then-current version of memtest86 (http://www.memtest86.com/) missed. These days, memtest86+ (http://www.memtest.org/) is my memory testing program of choice -- I see a very good correlation between bad prime95 self-test and memtest86+ failure on the machines I work with. It also features optional routines such as a bitfade test that hit failure modes the windows memory diag and prime95 may not trigger. I think the easiest way to run these tools is with the Ultimate Boot CD (http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/), which features 6 or 7 of this sort of memory testing tool (along with many other utilities of varying, ehm, utility).
