That is indeed a shame. There is now absolutely no way you could embed an animation or video in a PDF file. A lot of 3D-PDF interactivity is also gone for good.
To make things worse that was one my main business service. The webGl alternative is just not the same.

I don't know if any of the browser makers would have killed it off, but it seems that Apple gave the mortal wound by refusing to support it on iOS.

What has annoyed me for a long time is rebooting Windows only to be told that "Flash is out date" even after I had uninstalled it and other Adobe software from the computer.
