Crashing laptop while LL-D?

I do TF and ECM on my laptop at home, the laptop keeps on working weeks without shutting down and there is no problem even with two workers.

I tried to do a LL-D, but after short time (about 3-4 hours) my laptop crashes, although only using one worker. Is the CPU getting so much hotter than doing TF/ECM?

Is it somehow possible to do LL-D without getting the CPU so hot? (e. g. by longer working time?)

Excuse my bad english, it's not my native language ;-)

You can set Prime95 to run, say, 70% of the time if the temperature is causing the laptop to crash. (Running 70% of the time causes it to pause for about 1 second every 3 seconds) To do so:
1) Exit (Test -> Exit, not just minimize it!) Prime95
2) Open prime.txt (or prime.ini, depending on which version you are using) , it should be in the folder where Prime95 is.
3) Add this line:
Throttle=70
(or however much of the time you want Prime95 to run.)
4) Save, then start prime95. It will now run 70% of the time.
(70% throttle may not be the best, experiment with different throttles and see what you get. Be warned that with TOO low throttle, you may be better off just doing TF or ECM)

Yes, it is. That´s why on laptops I usually only run TF assignments.

Alternately, buy a $10-15 laptop cooler, the type with a couple fans mounted to help force more air through the chassis.

In the future, prime95 on a flash drive is a great way to test the cooling design of a potential laptop purchase in the store. Pop it in, run as long as you can get away with...
