Come one, come all! This is a very exciting project where we hope to find many top-5000 primes in a short period of time.

With this project, the primary focus will be to do Riesel prime tests of the form k * 2^n – 1 for 300 < k <= 1001 that have not been reserved by others or are not being actively worked on. k < 300 and 1001 < k < 1400 are already being searched by other projects or individuals.

This forum is to coordinate and extend prime searching at Michael Hartley’s originally well-designed 'Prime Search' site that has now gone defunct. It is believed that the prime-searching community originally largely ignored this testing range because there was previously no forum to coordinate sieving and searching. This forum has changed that and has brought testing up to where it should be.

Sieve files have been prepared in advance for all n-ranges. We are running large team drives for all ranges as follows:
  • PRPnet automated testing for 5 k's in k=300-310 and n>3M.
  • Individual-k reservations for k=310-350 and n>3M.
  • PRPnet automated testing for 25 k's in k=350-400 and n>2M.
  • PRPnet automated testing and manual reservations for k=400-1001 and n>1M.
Subprojects will include:
  • Testing of other k-values outside the original scope of the project that are significantly behind their neighbors as to how far they have been searched. If necessary, coordination with existing reservations at other sites will be done ahead of time. This is the crux of the entire project.
The main two goals of the project relate to all k <= 1001 and are as follows:
  • All k's should be fully tested to the top-5000 range at all times.
  • All k's should have their non-top-5000 ranges tested.
Please see other threads in the forum for questions about searching and software.

For information and downloads for the manual version of LLR or sr(n)sieve, please see the software/instructions/questions thread.
For information on running PRPnet clients on our servers, please refer to our PRPnet thread.
For PRPnet installation, please see Primegrid prpnet clients.

If you would like to be automatically notified by Email of primes found on PRPnet servers, please see automatic prime notification in this thread.

Thanks and come join us for the fun at No Prime Left Behind!

Gary

lol, great project idea. I think of myself as a Republican, but this kind of humor is awesome. People take themselves WAY too seriously.

I have a project of my own that I'm doing on my quad-core, it's for a fairly high k, so I'm not going to announce my work until I post a prime or get sick of the project. I'm sieving from n=665K-5M. So, in a sense, we're kind of doing the same project.

Even without the great name, No Prime Left Behind sounds like a fantastic project. You'll probably see me, on and off, crunching this project in the future.

Good luck, people! :)

Thanks for the kind words Jasong. Feel free to join us at any time and knock off some of your favorite n=333333 primes.

When you say we're doing 'kind of' the same project, how so? Are you sieving a gob of k's or some of the same k's that we are? Or is it just a single k? I can't imagine it's too many k for such a huge n-range.

You need not reveal details. I'm more curious from a general perspective. n=665K-5M is so huge that it almost has to be DC effort that you're going for. And BTW, I would have no objection if it was some of the same k's that we are testing here. IMHO, projects don't own k's. We only ask that people coordinate their efforts with us if they are working on 300<k<=1001 so that we don't duplicate work.

One reason I ask this is because about the time that we get to around the n=450K-500K range on this project, I'll begin coordinating an effort to sieve n=600K-1M for 300<k<=1001 so we can go after some really BIG primes! I don't want us to duplicate anyone's work more than we have to.

Here's another simple way to install llrnet on 2, 4 and 8 cores machine.
The default server is on port 5000.
To change the port just edit llr-clientconfig.txt for all cores and look for the server location.

Another thing you need to edit is your nickname, please look for the line
username = "TeamName_nickname" and change it to
username = "nickname" There is no 'TeamName' allowed in the username.

Extract the zip, for 2 and 4, versions and unrar for the 8 version.
To run the client you just need to run llrnet.exe respectively for each core.

Links to download:

http://em99010pepe.googlepages.com/l...2_NPLB_win.zip (Core duo windows)
http://em99010pepe.googlepages.com/l...4_NPLB_win.zip (Quad-core windows)
http://em99010pepe.googlepages.com/l..._win.part1.rar (Octo part 1 windows)
http://em99010pepe.googlepages.com/l..._win.part2.rar (Octo part 2 windows)

All clients will run in the system tray.
If you right click on the icon and if you choose "New GUI Window" you will get remotely control of all cores and see their progress.

If you are using any of our servers and want to be Emailed a notification that you have found a prime on the server automatically, then send us an Email with your
user='username'
email address to use: 'somebody@someplace.net'
Of course, you need to substitute 'username' and 'somebody@someplace.net' with your real values for us to use.

Please send it to us at gbarnes017 at gmail dot com.

Thanks,
IB

Okay, I'll see about getting links for this, as well as David's post right after yours, in the first post shortly...

How come the installation file has CRUS.something-I-cannot-recall.pt in its clientconfig.txt file instead of "nplb.ironbits.net" or "noprimeleftbehind.net"

That was our old server. Sorry about that--it's corrected in the new set of client packages we have available:

Windows: http://www.noprimeleftbehind.net/dow....9b7-win32.zip
Linux: http://www.noprimeleftbehind.net/dow...b7-linux32.zip

We're currently in a sort of transition phase right now, where we're moving to a new web site and forum, and revamping all of our documentation and etc. (including these client packages which still referenced the old server). Please pardon our dust.

The first post here points to the software/instructions/questions thread. The first post in that thread contains a zip with very dated (i.e slower) software.
