Apollo 8 had floating vomitus of commander to deal with.
And to vaguely quote Pete Conrad of Apollo 12: "The only way to have a clean bowel movement in space is to strip naked and give yourself an hour." The Gemini flights and Apollo flights up to 17 and ASTP used bags that would stick to the user. Skin is easier to clean than garments in space.
