I don't like spiders. I won't go to mars.

The first few expedition would be one way. So either shipa few familly or some looner. Can't see how it could turn bad.

To soft land on a passerby object you would need ΔV to catch it. If you choose to not soft land on Luna and just touch down on it, you just need to pass through E-M L1 with a slight velocity. And instead of getting there with one big burn, one can use a series of pumping burns at perigee and the gravity of the moon over the course of several months to get there. This greatly reduces the required ΔV from the engines. Several craft have made it that way to lunar orbit.
