It doesn't seem to support the long names correctly so really ECMCLI~1.INI ECMCLI~1.CRV ECMCLI~1.DAILY

Where do you get the files ?

Afterwards got the message
[2003-08-12 17:21:35 GMT] Connect error. Pausing 1 minutes

For the port is it just 8194.
Protocol and direction TCP ? UDP ? Outbound ? Inbound
The application creates these files from scratch, so you always get this warning message the first time you run the program. The first time I ran the program I also thought this was a problem.

The Connect Error indicates that you could not connect to the server. Assuming your clock is within a few hours of accurate, the server was up continually in this time period. I assume you had internet connection at the time. Is it possible a firewall is blocking port 8194? I think the protocol uses TCP, but I'm not positive.

The time to retry is set in the configuration file - yours is set to 1 minute. Did you let it run a few minutes to see if the connection fails on the subsequent attempts, too?

You might check that the DNS is working. My IP address changes on each reboot, but it has been 64.252.5.70 all afternoon. The quickest way to check this might be to ping wblipp.dnyu.com and see if it translates to this address. You will probably not get a ping response, though, because the firewall has all ports except the server port on stealth.

Strange it doesn't work with long filenames on your side. What OS are you using?

BTW, i am able to connect at this moment.

Ran it for 20 minutes a couple of times.

It never creates the .ini .crv .daily files.

Win98 SE is the OS

Pinging your address wblipp.dynu.com fails on all attempts,
using different pinging programs, yet other sites ping fine.
Even tried ping with IP address instead of name, same result.

The ping resolves hostname to the IP address OK though.
The IP address is resolved fine with other programs.

No matter what I try it doesn't work.

Even tried the ecmclient.exe that was in a zip at the please visit URL.

At least it exits easily with CTRL C

The files aren't created because you never successfully contact the server - so that's not a problem.

The ping failure is expected because my firewall doesn't return pings. The successful address translation says the Dynamic DNS is working OK.

Other people, in addition to smh, have connected since you first posted, so I don't think the problem is on my end. It looks like the contact message is never leaving your system. Is there a firewall that might block port 8194? Does anyone know if Win98 has an internal configuration that might block port 8194?

Another ECMNET server runs on port 8194 on the host 213.199.145.29 aka red.cam.uk.eu.microsoft.com

You may wish to use this one to see if you get different results. This server is loaded up with numbers from the Cunningham project's 3+ table at the moment.

Default P15 found for M(15120)

M( 15120 )C: 753096131454241

Found with Dario Alpern's Java applet. This is the first known factor for this number. The remaining C1026 is now in the ecm server at wblipp.dynu.com (see smh's message for how to contribute).

And an other ECM server runs at 217.19.25.214 ports 23, 80 and 110

It is loaded with Lucas numbers see here for more info about the maintained tables where i get the numbers from.
http://home.att.net/~blair.kelly/mathematics/fibonacci/

And currently there are 33 different numbers loaded with different sizes.

Default FIVE new factors - THREE for M(9504)

FIVE new factors! Three of them for the same Mersenne number!

Recently smh tipped me that it would be better to have my ecm server start new numbers at B1=11000. That advice reaped benefits here – two of the factors were found at this level. In the format used by lowM.txt, the new factors are

M( 9504 )C: 292097895130638549488449
M( 9504 )C: 79879332628387936513
M( 9504 )C: 12507397543108967308622209
M( 33264 )C: 275847440697174751828781117761
M( 23760 )C: 505788096406864604842081

M(9504) is quite rich in primes – this number previously had three factors in lowM.txt. Such a wealth of small primes leads one to wonder if there might be an undiscovered structural factor here – something similar to Aurifeullian factors.

All factors were found using my ecm server at wblipp.dynu.com – see smh’s earlier post for how to join in the fun. The first two were found at B1=11000, the others at B1=50000. The remaining composite cofactors are in the server, receiving further work.

Found with ECM stage 2 with B1=50000, served from the ecm server at wblipp.dynu.com

M( 66528 )C: 5908006969490457217

Thank you to the people who have helped by connecting to the ecm server and running some curves.

Default P11 factor of M(47520)

This P11 factor of M(47520) was found using Dario Alejandro Alpern's Java factoring program,. It's the second known factor. The remaining C3449 is in the ecm server at wblipp.dynu.com. One of you became the very first person to try ecm on this number above the B1=2000 level by connecting to the ecm server ten seconds after I activated the number. Good luck on finding another factor!
