And never begin a sentence with a conjunction.

At about this point in the narrative, it is traditional to introduce Safire's rules:

I do not known if it can be qualified as a grammatical error but using "then" instead of "than" in comparisons always makes me loose time in reading :
- is something else meant ?
- did I misunderstand something ?

Just ran into this all-too-common faux pas in reading a news story about a medical-device lawsuit's hearing before the US Supreme Court:
Quote:
The Riegel v. Medtronic case has "big implications for the medical device industry," said Boston University law professor Frances Miller. "If they are in fact exempt from liability here, irregardless of anything, they're going to save [the cost of] having to defend these cases."

affect, effect. Different words, different meanings, they can't be freely interchanged without changing the meaning of the sentence.

Like bsquared said: Is that a grammer issue? I don't care, it still drives me nuts.

Whoops, I of course meant "foe paws" - as in a 4-limbed animal - in my post above.
