"Lord Julius" poached on TF https://www.mersenne.org/report_expo...9989749&full=1
I had the assignment 73 to 74, he went 73-77 before I reported a result manually.
Also, everyone, please stop rerunning extreme low levels that were run long ago, such as the 1 to 63 he also did, and I've seen others do many of.
Those are removed from the database for space management, as I recall.

Hi kriesel, sorry about that. I got the 73-74 assignment from the Manual GPU Assignments page on 9/7, so I don't know how the overlap happened.

Never knew this, won't be repeated. Those low runs are still listed for many among the records, so there's no record of others so appear as "not run". Perhaps tag the status pages in the title with "Everything from 1 to ** has been TF'd for 2 to 999999937."

As for the 1-63 TF runs (as well as gaps in other TF runs), I won't do any from now on. The status pages sporadically show/don't show these runs & gaps; perhaps note in records (or page banner) that "TF has been completed for 1-** for 2 through 999999937."

No biggie. Only TF, and a small work unit at that. Plus the useful question of how much will this matter in a year, 10, or 100, puts it in perspective.
Welcome to the forum. You may find some useful things at the reference info compilation.

"Borek BOISSY" still determined to waste his own CPU cycles to the greatest extent possible of by poaching assigned LL DCs...

Thanks, been on & off GIMPS since ~2006(?), so I've missed a goodly few items of note at times. Just got a RTX 3060, so cranking TF at an ungodly rate compared to 15 years of CPU! Love the tech (if not the KwH prices).

Are there any rules in place yet for what happens to exponents that have been reserved or otherwise are in progress but which haven't shown any apparent work at all in several years? I know it's been an issue with people appearing to "hoard" exponents especially in the +100M range.

Any exponent near the wavefront will start getting expired either due to inactivity, or if it falls far enough into cat 1 territory, because it's just taking too long.

As for "hoarding", I really don't know what you are talking about. There are millions of exponents out there. There are not very many that are being held onto. I assume by the +100M range (there's no hoarding around 100M) you really are talking about the 100M decimal digit range, where the exponents are in the 332M+ range. They are so far from the wavefront that they don't really matter. They take a very long time to complete on most hardware, so even a 360 day expiration isn't necessarily appropriate. And there's a vast supply of them, so if dozens or hundreds of them are assigned for outrageously long periods of time, what does it really matter?

If you are just looking for lottery tickets, there's plenty out there.

Heh, finding Mersenne primes as a way to get rich didn't cross my mind, but maybe I should start using the digits of previous primes for my lottery numbers.

Work being done on my Odrod N2 running mlucas P-1 has been poached - c105M. It is now switched off until next summer when it will be used for "small projects". The cost of electricity in the UK now forces my pharm to be shut down during summer months when using these few-watt boards will be okay -- I have the N2, R-pi 3B+, Pi Zero-w, RISC-V and a fpga to play with, none of which is good enough for big primes work
