The apparent brightness will increase when the moon changes from partially eclipsed to fully eclipsed (The eye just gets relaxed a bit more).
It's perfectly clear weather now here :) |

Well that was fun!
Got hundreds of stills and I am frozen. Had to set the exp. from 1/60 all the way to 4 secs. in manual steps. I'll start saving for a 'scope and decent camera for the 2029 one. |

This morning on my TV I saw some beautiful pictures of the moon in eclipse over the Mid East.
Im glad that my 'calling attention' in this thread generated a lot of interest from you in England and Europe. I was just wondering where Xilman and cheesehead were when the lights went out! Mally |

True, but the next one is a bit low in the sky.
The moon is at the max. eclipse about 29°, compared to 44° with this one. (all the eclipses upto 2029 will be relatively low in the sky) Quote:

FlatLander,
do you already have processed the stills into a movie? If so, are you willing to share it? |

Not yet. Ideally I need to crop the images and double the size. The moon is very small because whenever I tried to use the zoom the time-lapse program crashed. About the size of this
on the screen, but no face! I did take some stills of the totality without the USB attachment with the 3 x zoom on. A bit less embarrassing. I also took a analogue video clip at 20 x zoom. I should be able to get some reasonable stills from that. One of the no-zoom stills (cropped). Just after beginning of totality: |
