Greetings
I reserved a range recently of 1000 (eg: 475000-476000). I see that this range is going to take some time to complete. Is it possible to complete it in chunks, eg send 200 at a time, such as 475000-475200.........then fire up the client again and complete the next 200 or so? I shall reserve smaller ranges in future One lives and learns, I am new to this project and I guess my enthusiasm is greater than my hardware

You don't even need to start/stop the client. Just get it crunching and submit what you have whenever you like; and please drop a note about your progress every month or so. Yours H.

Every month? :surprised
I said slow not THAT slow Do you mean my unit progress or my overall project progress? Addendum: hhh can you clarify for me..........can one delete the contents of fact.txt anytime? (after noting results of course). I get muddled as to what ranges I am doing on which machine

Again: If you want, you can reserve work for a whole month or two; just try not to get stuck at the top of the list too long.
Then: Yes, you can delete stuff from the fact*.txt files at any time. And PLEASE try not to loose factors or ranges, because it is very difficult to find the gaps. As for your enthusiasm: The more the better. It's what these projects are made of. (of ? from? can you tell me?) H. Last fiddled with by hhh on 2007-02-16 at 12:40 |

H in the sieveimport php do you mark as factors reported by PSP or factors reported by user
Just sent 13 factors 5 SOB 8 PSP & my amount in sieve stats only went up by 5. At the moment I am sending as factors reported by user, is this correct??? |

some clarifications( i hope) about the the sieveimport and the stats. The stats at pspproject only show the factors found for the PSP project. The SOB factors are only collected and then will count at SOB depending on who sends them in (described later). If you do not get all PSP factors counted in the stats there is one simple reason. The stats count only the first factor found for a specific k/n pair. So there is a chance that after the generation of the dat file and before you found your factor somebody else has also found a factor for this number. For the reporting of SOB factors. On the sieveimport you can choose between "by user" and "by PSP". If you select "by PSP" i go from time to time and send in all SOB factors under the account "PSPGroup" at this page: http://www.seventeenorbust.com/sieve/ If you select "by user" it is your own task to send the results in under your own account. Hey Lars,
I know you have been under the weather lately... Joe made a new dat for SoB I think he also made one for PSP did you want to issue out an updated dat so we are not finding dups? The new dat is certainly not nessary but it might prevent confusion like above. (report new factor previously found <-- this would not happen with the updated dat. Well for a while anyways.) |
