Default LLRNet as a NT service

Hi!

After starting the LLRNET.exe you can right-klick on the tray-icon and then click on "Add LLRNET as a service". So I can start-stop the client by time as I prefer.

Is here anyone which has done this?
On my XP-system this does not work, nothing happens after "click".

If this works on a "normal" system, I add the service manually in the registry.

On my system there is another LLRNET-service from another project. Maybe this is the reason for that? In llr-clientconfig I choose the name "LLRNET5" for the service.

Please can anyone test, if the service can be installed?

Stupid... If have done it myself!

I removed the other LLRnet service and then added LLRnet5 as a service.

It works!!!

I took a look on the details of the installed services:

"Normal" LLRnet uses the same arguments for the service as LLRnet5 with only one difference: the servicename.

But the devicedescription and displayname are equal. Maybe this is the reason for only having one of the services on the system?

No solution yet?

Maybe someone send me the actual patched source so I could look for the necessary changes?

I personally don't use the service feature. But quick testing shows that it doesn't allow two services to run simultaneously

Let me take a look at the service code and see if it can be tweaked.

After extensive research (meaning, I did a gloabal search of the source), I think I may have found a solution.

You can edit the llrnet.lua file and look for variable called serviceDisplayName. You can change the value to something else -- say "LLRnet, k*5^n-1 / k*5^n+1 networked prime tester". Restart LLRNet. This time it should allow you to create the service.

Have you tested this?

I had the same idea last week, but it didn't work.

One moment...

Hey, nice work!

It works!!!

I only tested that with the llserver.lua last week, my fault. This one is only for the llserver.exe, I think, but you haven't put llserver.exe in your package, so this is obsolete.

Why haven't I seen this line in the llrnet.lua???

Ok, now I am happy. Good work!

Default Warning : LLRNET/LLR does only PRP tests for you!

Hi, all Sierpinski/Riesel Base 5 participants,

I thank you for using LLRNET/LLR for your coordinated search, but I wish to remind you of the real features of these programs :

For k*b^n+1 or k*b^n-1 candidates, LLRNET/LLR can only prove their primality if the base b is TWO ; if b != 2, only a PRP test is done, so, when the result is positive, you MUST further use another program, such as PFGW, to complete the proof, and, if the number is finally certified prime, to credit the prover program together with PRP and/or LLR, and not LLR alone...

For example, these posts to Chris Caldwell's verification system are problematic :

Good hunting and best regards,
Jean
