Default Determining cause of Primenet error 29s

I've recently been having some trouble getting my Prime clients at work to contact the server through the firewall. I'm not entirely sure why, since all of the other applications I'm using work fine with the proxy address and port I've specified in primenet.ini.

Anyone know of a way to get Prime to dump the text response it's getting from the proxy that's causing the error 29?

Is there a way to force Prime (the Windows client) to contact the server on a different IP address and port? I might be able to tunnel the connection through SSH if I can trick the client into connecting to a different machine.

Add the line Debug=1 to primenet.ini, then look at prime.log after a failed connect

Thanks George. Debug=1 didn't work for v21.4, so I upgraded to v23.5 and the problem went away. I'm not sure why proxy support would suddenly stop working, but since it's fixed I guess that's immaterial.

It wasn't proxy support that stopped working. The real problem is described here: http://mersenne.org/ips/faq.html#error12002

Default Primenet Error 29

I am also getting Primenet error 29 when one of my PCs tries to report on a trial factoring exponent. I have been getting this error since Wednesday morning (07/09/03). The PC with the problem is running version 21.4.1.
Would upgrading to version 23.5 help solve this error or further complicate my problem since this PC is trying to report a trial factoring result and has an outstanding prime.spl file?

Upgrading to 23.5 (or 22.12) will fix your problem. The existing prime.spl file won't be a problem. Just exit prime95, install the new prime95 on top of the old one, restart prime95.
