I believe the problem might be either the power supply or CPU. I did get some FPU errors from a test program called Lucifer but I am not relying on this software completely and in the process of running other programs to confirm this. But I was taking a look at the voltage levels from the Asus PC Probe II and the voltages seem pretty low to me. Here is the listing of my voltages. Vcore - 1.38v +3.3 - 3.26v +5.0 - 4.87v +12.0 - 11.71v CPU - 48C under heaviest load MB - 32C CPU Fan - 1814rpm Chassis Fan - 1394rpm Chipset fan - 6250rpm Thanks, Joe |

IIRC, there were issues with Asus A8N boards and Antec Neo power supplies. Quick Google search results.
I'd use a different PS. |

System Specs:
Processor - AMD Athalon 64 X2 Motherboard - Asus A8N-SLI Seluxe DVD drive - Asus 16X DVD-E616A DVD-RW drive - Plextor PX-716A Power Supply - Enermax Noisetaker II 600W XFX Geforce 7600GT Memory - Kingston KVR400X72C3A 1GB Hard Drive - Seagate Barracuda SATAII ST3300622AS 300GB Tower - Thermaltake Tsunami Dream Tower Series Logitech Cordless Desktop MX3100 Well I went out and bought a new Enermax Noisetaker II power supply which fixed the problem for my vcore, +3.3v, and +5.0v but my 12v is still under it is showing 11.90v. I know my xfx 16x pci-express card does not have a power connector on the video card it takes power from the slot. But the amps for the 12V for this power supply runs at 22A for a total of 35A which should be plenty for this board. Any other ideas or do you think the new power supply is bad. Thanks, Joe |

power supplies are not exact remember they are constantly changing 120 volts + or - 5 or so. They will never be exactally 12 volts there will be a little difference but 11.9 is good and should be fine unless you have more crashes your problem should be solved.

Ok, it still resets when I try to run Prime95, but playing Call of Duty 2 doesn't seem to have any effect. I'll try installing Blender and running some 3d renders and see if that will cause a reset.
Thanks, Joe |

Whenever I had this problem, it was because my OS install was bad.
Try formatting the hard drive and reinstalling the OS. Pay special attention to any error messages. Then add any updates. Other possible fixes, flash the mobo's BIOS, newest hardware drivers, better heatsink/fan for CPU. |

No I'm not overclocking anything. I'll try reinstalling the OS again and see what happens. Already updated the BIOS and running all the latest drivers and firmware updates. At the moment I brought my computer to where I work and running quicktech professional on it and it passed a 24 hour burn in process without any resets. So once I reinstall the OS I'll try running Prime95 on it again and see what happens.

I have an A64 X2 4200+ running @ 2,45GHz and it reaches 50C running prime95 (two instances of blend test) and 58C running S&M utility. Maybe try increasing Vcore just a bit to see if that helps. BTW: do you have some temperature readings from the PWRMIC and chipset sensors? |

The lowest is 34C, when running the CPU hard with Prime95 the highest I reached was 48C. Right now I changed the setting in Prime95 for the Affinity setting to only test CPU0 and now Prime95 seems to be running fine. It's been running over 2 hours now and still going. Before it would only last for about 20 to 30 minutes at max when allowing it to use either CPU. So I'm going to let this run for quite awhile and see if I get any errors when I come back from work. If I don't get any errors I will try testing just CPU1 and see if it passes. If I get passes from that I'll try getting a better fan for my CPU because I'm just running the fan that came with the processor right now (any recommendations?) and then I will try setting the Affinity again to run on either one. Oh yeah I forgot I was running 2 instances of it when it was failing.
