so yeah i've embarked on my own project with a group of friends in hope of breaking a code.. so...
we used ECM to try and break it and this is when i wasnt on the project. as soon as i arrived i immediately directed the ECM to be dropped as it's not impossible to factor a 155 digit number with ECM. at least not for several more years. My question is.. What post processing tools are available? I know CWI has a lot of things that i need and is probably the most widely known place to turn to for such things as post processing tools and poly selection methods.... Looking specifically for the matrix solver since that is the only part of GGNFS that I don't think we can use... what's the opinion on the boinc method of distributing it??? is there a better way? remember.. we're dealing with a 512 bit rsa key here :) thanks! oh.. why doesnt GNFS have curves? |

Well first of all you need a pretty solid theoretical understanding of how GNFS works before you can really use it effectively.
Second, you'll need a pretty hefty cluster (or something like it) to solve the matrix. |

i have a good understanding of GNFS.
i have supercomputer ready at my disposal for post-processing.. matrix, linear algebra, pruning, filtering, etc... 66th most powerful computer in the world :) |

If you want to get access to the CWI NFS suite, contact Herman Te Riele at CWI. You should understand that CWI gives the software away for free only for research and educational purposes, and you will have to sign a contract that says so. You will not be legally allowed to use this software to break commercially used RSA keys.
