Hi, I'm hoping for a little help
I just upgraded my computer, hardware: Cel 400-> athlon 1800+ software: win98SE->winXP, prime95: ~19->22.8 I connect through a proxy with authentication, so I copied my old primenet.ini along with my save-files and worktodo.ini, deleting the "ProxyMask=1" line, and resetting my password. version 22.8 and 22.7 goes "PrimeNet error 1" when I try to connect, but they set the ProxyMask=1 and encodes my password. version 21 goes "PrimeNet error 12029", and doesn't change primenet.ini I havn't tried earlier versions, since I belive optimizations have been done since then? I've tried extracting the files both with the winxp build-in capability, and winzip, and I've tried getting the zip-file with three different programs, no change. Anyone with some clues? -Dennis |

Proxy support was removed from these recent versions. You will have to use v.22.1, or you will have to sneakernet (very easy to do).
others report the server is down - try later. Quote:

I don't know what NTLM challenge/response authentication is, so I don't know if the proxy requires it (how do I test?), but I tried using 21.4 for a while, and looked through my settings there, and found that for the test of this version, I'd accidentally deleted the "[PrimeNet Proxy]" line. Correcting this changed the error message to "PrimeNet error 2250", but now version 21 encodes the password. The faq then says I should use http. Well, the setting in prime95 says http, and prime.ini has the line "UseHTTP=1".
22.8 still gives error 1, and password is encoded, with primenet.ini double checked Btw, i never got older versions of mprime to work under linux, where I got the exact same error (2250) but there I just ignored it, since it worked in windows[1], so I could contact the server by just rebooting twice. Still hoping to use automatic connections to primenet, will contact again, when primenet is reported up, at least it eliminates a source of error. If it doesn't start working again tomorrow, is there some debug switch I can set, to help finding the problem? -Dennis Jørgensen [1]prime95 needs the "[PrimeNet Proxy]"-line, mprime complains about that line. Why the lack of compatibility[2] [2] Well, this was the case in version ~18-19, I don't know if it's changed. |
