Question Motherboard Problem

Hi folks. I have a Chaintech motherboard with a P4 processor. If I cut the power completely, it will not hold its CMOS settings. I have replaced the battery, and installed a new 400W power supply. Other than replacing the entire board, I do not know what else to try. Comments, anyone?

What about "Clear CMOS" jumper setting? Did you check it? Also maybe battery socket is broken - you may check with a voltimeter at the back of motherboard if there is rated battery voltage or not....

Whenever I pull a battery, I always bend the prongs in the center of the battery holder up, to make sure they are in firm contact with the battery when it is reinserted. You might give that a try.

Now this is one that I would never have thought of. I will definately check this out. The clear CMOS jumper appears to be in the correct place. I have never moved it since I got this board, but I will pull it off and put it back on again.

Thanks guys!
