Default New problem with version 24.14 !

Hello, sorry for my bad english (I am french)

The programm is running very slowly since the new exponent has started after the programs-stages 1 and 2 :

For example see this later information given :

Resumming primality test of M26310161 at iteration 137127 [0.52%]
[Nov 26.09:35] Iteration : 140000 / 26310161 [0.53%] Per iteration time : 0.191 sec.

I think the time correct should be : Per iteration time 0.049 sec !!

What can I do ?

Merci

How much memory do you have allocated to Prime95? In Prime95, click on Options, then Cpu. Somewhere between 128k and 256k should be about right.

You might also check your page mode memory settings.
Start:Settings:Control Panels:System.
Click on the advanced tab and then click on Performance Options. Check the paging memory size both current and max.

Memory settings are not relevant during the LL test.

Run task manager and make sure prime95 is getting nearly 100% of the available CPU time.

Default [FINISHED] Problem stopped !

Hello,

I don't understand how it happened : but all is right now !
Winlogon has stopped ... and the time per iteration now is 0.049 s for my exponent which is 26310161.

My work will be done correctly ! I don't know what is the reason of this problem and the solution but it is finished !

Thx for your help !

My guess: Some other process (Winlogon or something else) was using lots of CPU time (for who-knows-what reason). Once it stopped (for who-knows-what reason), there were more cycles available for Prime95's use.

The memory settings in Prime 95 apply only during P-1 stage 2, which is not part of the L-L primality testing.

Idea for George: Change plain "Memory" labels in options setting to "P-1 Stage 2 Memory" or something similar to indicate their limited relevance.
