I'm working on a siever (well, porting proth_sieve) to G4 (should, I think, be compatible with G3) and then in a months' time my G5 should be delivered and it should be quite quick to move it over to native 64-bit G5.
that will be great! Those Mac's are just waiting on weekends

Try the PIES project. With a 2.5 GHz G5, you can perform a PRP test on a 100,000 digit number in 3 minutes. G5s are the best choice for that project. I used mine to find more than a dozen primes for that project. The G4/G3 can be used as well, but the PRP tests take longer as the FPU isn't as good as the G5.
I couldn't run the client. I'm an alien on Mac's. All I can do on Mac's is just double clicking the lonely button of the mouse. And I can put the files in a folder. That's all. I worked on it for more than an hour but...

As soon as I have finished the G4 version, and tested it thoroughly, I'll make it available for download. I'll also go around the various projects (SoB, Riesel, PSP, 321, 15k) to let people know that it exists.

Can't promise a completion date as I haven't got much free time. I'm busy at work, most weekends before Christmas are tied up and I'm going on holiday in a couple of weeks' time. I fit a bit of coding in here and there, hopefully it will all add up soon enough.

You need to run it via the Terminal app. You can find it in the Applications/Utilities folder. This provides you a unix environment from which you can run overseis. If you have more questions, you can contact me via PM or you can join the pies_project group in Yahoo and have all of your questions answered there.

A question about Phil's software. Can you run it without an internet connection ie. manually reserve ranges etc. Make it work on exponents you prefer, than assigned by the server.

Yes, you manually reserve ranges. It does not use an internet connection.

Have those numbers been sieved? If so, send me a PM and I'll help you through the rest.
