Default Dr. L. Vincent Edmondson (1961-2003)

Dr. L. Vincent Edmondson, 41, of Warrensburg, MO, died Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at his home. He was born Sunday, September 2, 1961, in Independence, MO, the son of Lawrence G. Edmondson and Lorene Pine Edmondson. Dr. Edmondson graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1979 and from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg with a B.S. in Mathematics and Computer Science in 1983. He graduated from the University of Missouri-Rolla with an M.S. in Computer Science in 1985 and from the University of Missouri-Rolla with a Ph.D. in Computer Science in 1993. Dr. Edmondson was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Boy Scouts of America. He was also a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say as Medicine Man Meditating Owl. In 1998, he received the College of Arts and Science Faculty Achievement Award and in 2002 the Silver Beaver Award. Dr. Edmondson was a Professor for the Department of Mathematics and Computer Sciences at CMSU since 1990. He had previously worked for AT&T Information Systems Laboratories in Middletown, NJ, from 1985-1987. On May 25, 1986, in Kansas City, MO he married Kelly Annette Murray. She survives of the home. Also surviving are his father and stepmother, Lawrence & Lanora Edmondson, Independence; father and mother-in-law, Jerry & Judy Murray, Centerview; two sisters, Nancy Crawford and Judy Craig, both of Independence. He was preceded in death by his mother. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, June 15, 2003, at the Family Life Center at First United Methodist Church in Warrensburg with Rev. Scott Moon officiating. Eulogies will be delivered by Curtis Cooper and Roger Hoyt. Readings will be by Tom Carter and C. Jack Phillips. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Heart of America Council-Boy Scouts of America or the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science Scholarship Fund or Johnson County Hospice, c/o the church. Unless I am mistaken, Vincent Edmondson was one of the two people responsible for the GIMPS participation at Central Missouri State University, under the account name 'curtisc'.
