Default Nvidia H100 DGX superpod

Hey!
What do y'all think this could do for this project?

https://nvidianews.nvidia.com/news/n...infrastructure

or just one H100, these guys have one for $2.40 an hour https://lambdalabs.com/

I'm going to start fiddling with one, but I only have experience really with mprime so the GPU stuff is new to me. Starting from scratch over here.

The thing about queries like this is that GIMPS doesn't run faster on really big hardware than it does on a ton of basic hardware. I doubt that $36k worth of H100 is competitive with $36k of commodity hardware as measured by prp-tests-per-week.

This is not a good deal cause 1 LL/PRP Double Check at the wavefront will cost you aproximately $10.00!

IMO: The cards are ridiculously overpriced and as stated earlier PRP/Week would be best spent on 36k worth of consumer grade equipment.

Useful for verification of a new prime. Not much else.

These types of very fast hardware systems are good to reduce latency. For verifying a suspected prime quickly. Or for targeting some special favoured number if one is impatient.

They aren't cost effective for throughput. So they aren't sensible for 24/7 continuous use testing of random numbers of unknown character.

We can talk about the investigation, but there is no word in the article about the power consumption.
Perhaps I would need a new fuse for this system.
And how much solar panels do you need for building an autarkic system.
