no such assignment key, no such cpu

Hello Friends,

I'm running mprime (prime95 for Linux) on a machine that's offline. I transfer the directory contents using

Code:

rsync -avc

so I'm transferring based on changed file contents, not size and date. It wasn't working without 'c', so I switched.

I put them on a USB NVMe drive, connect to an almost identical machine (same model cpu) that is online, but when I try to run the mprime program, I get many 'no such assignment key' and 'no such cpu registered'. I'm transferring about every 4 weeks.

Then, after all the failures, it makes some successful transfers of completed work, gets more work if needed, and starts factoring work.

Do assignment keys expire? I could do the transfers more often. But I have no idea about the 'no such cpu registered'.

Anyone have any ideas? I'm all ears. Thanks for all the help. I'm using the latest prime95 for Linux amd64.

Yes, of course assignments expire. See for example https://www.mersenne.org/thresholds/ and http://v5.mersenne.org/v5design/v5webAPI_0.97.html (http://v5.mersenne.org/v5design/v5webAPI_0.97.html#uc)
Why all the transfers? If you are doing that without updating the server, you're courting trouble. If you're running without periodically automatically updating the server for primenet issued assignments, you're courting trouble.
You give little or no indication what assignment types (factoring; what type?) or category number / approximate exponent are involved, but some assignments can expire much sooner than 4 weeks if no progress is reported during those 4 weeks.

He should be able to figure out if his assignments have expired. If that's the cause, there's nothing to do here. Expired results should, of course, still be returned if possible.

It looks like 30 days between reports is cutting it a bit close. I'll shoot for 20 days between reports. The machine in question simply cannot be online, ever. If it's just not going to work, then I'll cease using it for this type of work. But I think it should work with a more limited reporting interval.

You can use the web pages to manually get assignments (sneakernet them to the target machine) and to report results (sneakernet results back from target machine). Proof files are a bit trickier to upload -- easiest is to dump the proof file into the folder of an active, internet-connected prime95.

Manual assignments have something like 6 months before expiration.
